Louis-Philippe I, known as the "Citizen King," was born on October 6, 1773, and belonged to the House of Bourbon. His reign spanned from 1830 to 1848 and was defined by the transition from absolute monarchy to constitutional monarchy in France.

After an early military career and periods of exile during the French Revolution, Louis-Philippe returned to France and gained prominence for his political pragmatism. In 1830, he was elected as the King of the French after the July Revolution, leading to the deposition of the last Bourbon monarch, Charles X.

Louis-Philippe I positioned himself as a monarch supportive of constitutional governance and representative of bourgeois interests. His reign was characterized by economic growth and industrial development, but he also faced challenges such as unemployment and social unrest.

During his rule, various reforms were implemented, and France witnessed progress in railway construction and industrial expansion. Despite these efforts, discontent arose, particularly from the working class and those advocating republican ideals. In 1848, dissatisfaction culminated in the February Revolution, leading to Louis-Philippe's abdication and exile to England.

Louis-Philippe I lived out the remainder of his life in exile and passed away on August 26, 1850, in Claremont, Surrey, England. His reign marks a crucial period in French history, where the transition from monarchy to republic was reinforced, and socioeconomic changes became evident.
